Enjoy the Alentejo countryside, learn about and taste locally-produced wines and cheeses. Experience Alentejo culture through your senses in a unique environment, surrounded by nature.
Salvador Borges de Castro, professional sommelier, will introduce you to the wines of Portugal and the origin of the winemaking in Alentejo.
For a couple of hours, this professional will take you through each of wine regions of Alentejo: Portalegre, Borba, Évora, Redondo, Reguengos, Granja-Amareleja, Vidigueira e Moura – tasting 8 wines in all – whose different characteristics and qualities will be explained and described in detail. At the end of the afternoon, you will be served some Alentejo petiscos and will have the opportunity to relax in our gardens with a privileged view of a prehistoric monument and the Castle of Monsaraz.

Salvador Borges de Castro is a professional sommelier, from a winemaking family, with years of experience in the food, wine and hospitality industry. He works with a range of renowned restaurants, bars and hotels (Epur, Sud Lisboa, Tivoli Lisboa, Palácio Governador, Cave 23 to name a few).
Wine is in his blood – Salvador’s heritage comes from family ties to winemakers in Portugal and Spain. As an ambassador for Portuguese wines, he has a genuine passion for the uncommon, lesser-known yet underrated and superb wines in Portugal.
He champions those wines that capture the character, complexity and soul of the various Portuguese wine regions. Through this, he has cultivated sincere connections, building rapport with independent wine makers, vineyards and distributors throughout the country, helping keep the spirit of Portuguese wines very much alive. Through his wine tastings, he helps share knowledge and cultivate appreciation and better understanding of the wines in Portugal.
